Columbus recently designated the corner of 16th Avenue and High Street as “Willie Phoenix Way” in honor of the Columbus rock legend. Phoenix has been performing with his guitar for more than 50 years, most frequently at Bernie’s Bagels in the campus area of Ohio State University. The street-naming was the result of a fan-driven petition and a way for the city to acknowledge the musician.
